Official: Second Generation Audi Q7

After the leaked photos of the new Audi Q7, the German automaker uploaded a press release about the SUV.
The release mainly states the huge weight reduction, mechanical specifications and interior's design and gadgets.
Audi Q7 will be 325 kg (716.5 lbs) lighter than its predecessor and approximately 26 percent more efficient. The massive weight loss was possible thanks to a lightweight chassis making extensive use of high-strength steel and aluminum which has made it more than 100 kg (220.5 lbs) lighter than before. A 71 kg (156.5 lbs) diet was achieved by implementing a multi-material body design including fully aluminum doors (shaving 24 kg), hood, front fenders and rear hatch.
The SUV will be power by a variety of engines, but the first production models will carry out the 3.0 TDI/TFSI engines, while in Asian and American markets will be equipped with a 2.0 liter engine.
The 3.0 TDI with 200 kW (272 hp) and the 3.0 TFSI with 245 kW (333 hp) accelerate the new Audi Q7 from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 6.1 seconds (TFSI) and 6.3 seconds (TDI), respectively. The diesel V6 consumes on average just 5.7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (41.3 US mpg), corresponding to 149 grams of CO2 per kilometer (239.8 g/mi).
The Audi Q7 e-tron quattro, which will be launched a short time later, is the first plug in hybrid from Audi with a diesel engine. It impresses with system 275 kW (373 hp) of system output and a system torque of 700 Nm (516.3 lb/ft), and is also the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid with quattro all-wheel drive in the premium SUV segment. It consumes just 1.7 liters per 100 kilometers (138.4 US mpg), which corresponds to less than 50 grams CO2 per kilometer (80.5 g/mi). A full battery charge is sufficient for a distance of 56 kilometers (34.8 mi).
Moving to the interior Audi offers a new hardware setup that has erased some of the buttons and knobs to enable a less cluttered dashboard layout while Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support will be available. The flagship SUV will be offered with either a Bose sound system with 3D sound or a more expensive Bang & Olufsen Advanced Audio System with 3D sound and 23 speakers packing 1,920 watts of power.
Also available is a rear seat entertainment system with one or two optional 10.1-inch tablets powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 processor and featuring a full HD camera, 32GB of internal storage as well as Bluetooth, NFC and LTE connectivity.
Customers will be able to choose from xenon, LED or matrix LED headlights and all will come with double arrow LED daytime running lights, with the upper-spec models benefiting from dynamic turn signals in the taillights.
German customers will be able to order the Q7 from the spring of 2015 and it will be arriving at the dealerships with a wealth of standard equipment features in the summer of 2015. In Germany the Q7 will be available starting at around 61,000 euros.
