Power bumped to 700 bhp
A 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray modified by Hennessey managed to reach a top speed of 200.6 mph (322.8 km/h).
The successful attempt to hit the 200 mph mark took place on a closed section of the recently finished E segment of the Texas State Highway 99 located west of Houston and known as the Grand Parkway. The vehicle in question was a Corvette Stingray fitted with the HPE600 package provided by the American tuner which includes high-flow catalysts, ported factory cylinder heads, long-tube headers, custom camshaft and a Nitrous Express nitrous oxide system.
Thanks to these changes, output of the V8 6.2-liter engine has been bumped from the series 460 bhp (343 kW) to 700 bhp (522 kW) at 6,500 rpm. The added oomph has increased the vehicle's top speed from 180 mph to 200 mph, a performance that will soon be available with the HPE700 package which doesn't have a nitrous kit. Instead, it comes with a TVS2300 supercharger, an air induction system, custom camshaft, long-tube headers and high-flow heads - all for 22,500 USD.
