Audi Quattro Coming with 360-HP 2.5-L Turbo

The 700-hp hybrid concept will have a more sensible powerplant when it makes production.
Audi CEO Rupert Stadler has reiterated previous remarks emanating from the carmaker that the Sport Quattro will be built. Speaking with German publication Auto Motor Und Sport, he said the concept was built not only to celebrate 30 ears of the original Quattro, but to get customer feedback, which by and large has all been positive. When the Audi Sport Quattro Concept debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show, fans of the four rings were equally enamored by its aggressive styling as they were its impressive 700-hp hybrid powerplant.

Alas, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 mated to an electric motor setup will remain on the concept. Instead, a 2.5-liter five-pot with around 340-360 horsepower will do the business on the production Quattro. The car will be equipped with an all-wheel-drive system, yet will weigh in at just 1,300 kg thanks to a carbon-aluminum body. Originally destined as an exclusive, limited-run hybrid, the Quattro will in fact be a front-engined sports car based on a shortened A6 platform.
