BMW highlights their laser headlights.

Unique headlights are on option on the i8

BMW has released a new promotional video that highlights the laser light technology in thei8.
Described as the "latest edition to BMW's flashy LED light design," the laser headlights produce a focused "light spot" with twice the visibility range of conventional lights. The headlights are also lighter and five times brighter.
The video doesn't go into specifics but BMW has previously said the "light is created through the conversion of the beams emitted by tiny laser diodes by means of a fluorescent phosphor material inside the headlight." This creates a monochromatic beam of light that is pure-white and extremely bright. In total, the laser lights have an output of approximately 170 lumens which is roughly 70 lumens more than LED lights.
