Nor was it a particularly good flagship model.
The Cadillac XLR had good intentions, but it never quite lived up to what it should have been. Based off the C5 Corvette, the XLR was supposed to be a luxury grand tourer that could compete with the likes of the Mercedes SL and the BMW 6 Series. Powered by a Northstar V8 with 320 horsepower, the XLR wasn’t a bad car, but it wasn’t a great one and considering it carried a high sticker price it should have been more refined. It looked pretty good inside and out, but considering its Euro competition, the XLR just didn’t quite hack it in the end.
