Not too long ago, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk revealed his interest in creating an electric pickup truck in the coming years. When Musk initially revealed this ambitious plan, he revealed it would be created for private use rather than commercial use to rival vehicles used by FedEx and UPS for postal deliveries.
While Tesla Motors currently only has one model, in the form of the Model S, it is not too hard to assume how such a car would look and in order to give us an even better glimpse of such a possible car, Theophilus Chin has put together the following rendering.
As you may have noticed, this Tesla pickup has also received a few styling cues from the Tesla Model X SUV Concept.
The upcoming Tesla Motors truck is set to be based on the Ford F-Series of trucks which have garnered a real cult following in the U.S. The Ford F-Series, in particular the Ford F-150 is so popular that in September, 60,000 were sold across the U.S.
The Tesla pickup truck will obviously take quite a while to progress from simply words and promises rolling off Musk’s tongue before hitting the production line, but Musk hopes to see a Tesla truck in 5 years.
While such a car could arrive in the future, converting die-hard pickup fans to adopt an electric car would prove very difficult!
