Top 5 Sports Car Debuts of 2013.

Everyone has a favorite.
It’s that time of year when everyone likes to reflect on major events over the past twelve months. The car world is no exception and 2013 had some pretty spectacular sports car debuts - it’s not every year where there’s a new Ferrari and Corvette. After going through all of this past year’s launches, we picked out our favorite five. This list, in no particular order, obviously involves only sports cars and exotics, so don’t be sad that your beloved family car isn’t included.
Some were thrilled, and others were disappointed, but the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang will surely become a global hit for the automaker. Returning with its V6 and V8 engine options, the new Mustang will also offer a 2.3-liter turbo four to the chagrin of many purists. However, this new Mustang is for a global audience, which required some design and engineering changes. The bottom line, however, is the fact the Mustang is still a vital part of Ford’s lineup.

For years Jaguar had been hoping to do an E-Type successor, but the money and resources simply weren’t there. That’s all in the past now, thanks to the debut of the Jaguar F-Type coupe. It's drop dead gorgeous and more than worthy to carry on the spirit of the iconic E-Type. With a choice of three supercharged engines under its long hood, the F-Type is without question the best Jaguar launched in years. Not that other current Jags aren’t cool, but the F-Type coupe is just perfect in every way.

This was the one we were so anxiously waiting for, and fortunately Chevrolet didn’t disappoint. The completely new 2013 Corvette Stingray is the most technologically advanced Vette of all time. It’s light years ahead of its predecessor in terms of handling, interior quality and overall refinement. And of for the first time in, well, pretty much ever, the Corvette is fully capable of taking on the world’s best exotics in every vital category. Well done GM, very well done.

The long-awaited successor to the best-selling Lamborghini of all time, the Gallardo, is finally here. The Lamborghini Huracan is powered by an updated version of the Gallardo’s V10, only now it’s more powerful and fuel efficient. As with its predecessor, there’s bound to be many special editions and high-performance versions of the Huracan in the coming years. And unlike the more exclusive Aventador, the Huracan will be built in far greater numbers. A new era of Lamborghini greatness has just begun.

A decade after the launch of the famed Ferrari Enzo comes the LaFerrari. Why the goofy-ass name? Because it supposedly represents everything Ferrari is in terms of technology and super high-performance all in one. Unlike its predecessor, the LaFerrari incorporates the use of hybrid technology along with a conventional V12 engine. Fuel efficiency really isn’t so much the goal here, as the electric motor serves as an additional power supply that helps to propel the car to a top speed of 217 mph. Just 499 examples will be built and all are already spoken for.
