Lexus RC F Performance Benchmark: IS F CCS-R.

Get ready for what will likely be the greatest mainstream production Lexus model to date.
Without question there have been huge improvements from Lexus in both design and high-performance over the past few years. Gone are the days of simply building more expensive Toyotas; Lexus is now looking to be on par with the likes of BMW and Mercedes, notably their high-performance divisions, M and AMG, respectively.

With its F performance models expanding and earning some solid reviews, the IS F chief engineer, Yukuhiro Yaguchi, recently stated that the upcoming next-gen F cars have a new benchmark: the IS F CCS-R. In case you’re not familiar, the IS F CCS-R was a hand-built club racer that won the exhibition class at the 2013 Pikes Peak. It was powered by a 5.0-liter V8 with 416 horsepower and 371 lb-ft of torque. This is the car Yaguchi and his team set as the performance benchmark for the upcoming RC F V8 coupe, which is scheduled to debut in Detroit next month. It too will likely come with a 5.0 V8 under the hood, and could end up being the BMW M4’s worst nightmare. Stay tuned.
