More details on James Glickenhaus' SSC 003 Road Racer.

James Glickenhaus, the man behind the stunning Ferrari Enzo-based P4/5 by Pininfarina and its P4/5 Competizione racing variant, is working on a new project, another race car built for the road, and it’s called the SCG 003. SCG are the initials of Glickenhaus’ own brand, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, which, as you may have already guessed, is both a constructor and race team.
For the design of the SCG 003, Glickenhaus is teaming up with GranStudio, which recently released these early sketches. The Italian design house’s goal was a car with outstanding aerodynamic performance and an innovative and somewhat iconic design.
In charge of the mechanicals is well-known race engineer Paolo Catone, while another Paolo, Paolo Garella, is overseeing the project’s gestation. Underpinning the car will be a carbon fiber chassis that in the team objective is going to set new standards in terms of stiffness and lightness. The early word is that the car will weigh in at just 1,600 pounds, most likely in motorsport trim, and extract around 500 horsepower from a twin-turbocharged V-6.
The team is currently working hard to freeze the mechanical packaging within the end of January 2014 and start the car build during the first quarter of the year. A reveal is scheduled for the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, with the car’s competition debut to take place at the Nürburgring 24 Hours race that same year. The car will compete in the newly formed SPX Class in the VLN series, which hosts the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.
"Now that I have seen the final design, the chassis and the mechanical development, I am very excited and happy that we will be exploring new ideas, bringing LMP1 design to GT cars,” Glickenhaus said of the project.
