Mitsubishi President confirms plans for a plug-in hybrid Pajero, could be offered in US.

Next-generation i-MiEV could be larger than its predecessor

Mitsubishi President Osamu Masuko has revealed some new details about the company's future product lineup.
Speaking to Automotive News, Masuko said the company is starting to recover but he wants to "rebuild and improve our business" in the United States. While he said it would be "very difficult" to return to 2002 levels, Masuko wants to sell 100,000 units annually in the United States by March 31, 2017.
To hit this ambitious target, Mitsubishi has tied up with Nissan-Renault. Masuko said Mitsubishi is still evaluating its options but the company is considering a shared platform for the Galant successor. He went on to say "The D segment is not that big of a segment for us, so I think rebadging is OK."
The executive also confirmed plans for a plug-in hybrid Pajero and hinted it could be offered in the United States. Masuko also suggested the next-generation i-MiEV could be larger than its predecessor.
