Well, it depends on whom you ask.
Roadsters like the Mazda MX-5 are too often perceived as being girly cars. Back in the day in the UK, however, MGs and Triumphs were the choice of driving enthusiasts for both men and women alike. There was also the wonderful Lotus Elan, and like so many other British cars of that time, these cars weren't exactly well-built, yet they were adored by many. Sadly, those little British cars are long gone and there are very few modern day options like them on the market today.
In fact, just the MX-5 and Mini Roadster are the only two relatively inexpensive options left (the Porsche Boxster and BMW Z4 are a different price range of roadster entirely). Thing is, both the MX-5 and Mini are considered, well, girly. And that’s a damn shame, because it just ain’t true. The guys over at XCAR investigate why.
