Based on the Jaguar XKR
XCAR has been given been given a sneak peek of the David Brown Automotive Speedback, ahead of its official debut at Top Marques Monaco on April 17th.
Essentially a modern day version of the Aston Martin DB5, the Speedback features a retro exterior that will likely provoke love or hate it reactions. Despite this, Brown says "The Speedback is an iconically styled car using the classic simplicity of the 60s - unpinned by a modern platform with all of the functionally you'd expect from a modern car."
The interior is instantly recognizable but has comes nicely equipped with premium leather upholstery, wood trim and metallic switchgear. The rear luggage compartment also hides a picnic seat which can be easily folded out.
As we have previously reported, the Speedback is based on the Jaguar XKR and features a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops 510 HP (375 kW) and 625 Nm (461 lb-ft) of torque. It will be connected to a six-speed automatic transmission which will enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and hit a limited top speed in excess of 155 mph (250 km/h).
