Local Motors to build a 3D printed vehicle at the International Manufacturing Technology Show

Will be built in September

Local Motors has announced plans to build and deliver the first "direct digital manufactured vehicle" at The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago.
The company declined to elaborate but said the car will be an electric vehicle that is "purpose-built for the urban transportation needs of Chicago." The car will be constructed using 3D printing and Local Motors says it will "demonstrate how sustainable green technologies ... can deliver stronger, safer, faster, more efficient vehicles."
According to Local Motors CEO Jay Rogers said "IMTS is the perfect venue on which to showcase the next evolution of Local Motors' World of Vehicle Innovations. To deliver the first co-created, locally relevant, 3D-printed vehicle on an international stage dedicated to celebrating cutting-edge manufacturing technology is powerful reinforcement of our commitment to driving the Third Industrial Revolution."
