Next-gen Porsche Panamera to feature newly developed V6 and V8 engines

 Due in 2016 or 2017

The second generation of the Porsche Panamera is said to come with all-new V6 and V8 engines.
It will ride on the MSB platform and according to Autocar these two new engines will be sportier than Volkswagen offerings. Porsche is leading the development of both motors which will be offered in rear- and all-wheel drive configurations. The architecture will make use of high-strength steel and aluminum which should make the new Panamera lighter and more agile.
The same structure could also find its way in future Bentley models but the British marque is also taking into consideration using Audi's MLB structure that the Ingolstadt-based automaker plans on using for next-gen A4 through A8 models. While the Porsche will be sportier and lower, Bentley's models will be a bit taller.
Porsche is also analyzing the prospects of expanding the Panamera family with a two-door variant that has a soft and/or hard top roof. Even though such derivatives probably won't be available from day one, the platform has been created in such a way to allow Porsche add these variants later on.
The second-gen Porsche Panamera will likely be unveiled in the second half of 2016 before going on sale later that year or early 2017.
