Koenigsegg shows how they make carbon fiber wheels [video]

Light enough to lift with a finger

Inside Koenigsegg is back with a look at how the company creates the carbon fiber wheels for the One:1 supercar.
In the latest clip, Christian von Koenigsegg reveals the wheels are made by stacking pre-preg carbon fiber sheets on a wheel negative to create the outer surface of the wheel. The company then begins construction on the wheel's barrel area before vacuuming and baking them.
Despite being light enough to lift with a finger, the wheels are immensely strong as they can survive a "much harder impact" than a forged aluminum wheel. Koenigsegg goes on to say "We're the world's first car manufacture to make carbon fiber wheels ... and it's the most important area of the car to have really lightweight because its rotational unsprung mass."
