785 cars built so far
Porsche has announced the 911 GT3's fire risk problems are related to the connecting rod fasteners.
Company spokesman Nick Twork announced yesterday that a problem to the connecting rod fasteners caused those two 911 GT3s to burn a few weeks ago in Europe after the engine block cracked and leaked oil into the hot exhaust system. After alerting owners to stop driving their cars, Porsche now says they will replaces the engines of all 785 units built so far.
Replacing an engine will take roughly one day once Porsche services will start receiving the new and updated engines. Twork didn't specify the amount of time necessary to manufacture the motors but promises Porsche will do everything in its power to "do it as quickly as we possibly can."
