Model was previewed by the A6 L e-tron concept
Audi has announced plans to offer an A6 e-tron plug-in hybrid in China.
Previewed by the A6 L e-tron concept, the production model will be based on the A6 L and be built by FAW-Volkswagen. The company declined to say when the car will be launched but they confirmed it will have a 50 km (31 mile) electric-only range.
In a statement, Audi Chairman Prof. Rupert Stadler said “We are shaping the future of electric mobility in China." His sentiments were echoed by FAW-Volkswagen President Zhang Pijie who remarked “Audi and FAW have been cooperating closely for more than 25 years. Now we are cooperating on the next generation of automobiles."
As we have previously reported, the A6 L e-tron concept had a 211 PS (155 kW) 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine, a 95 PS (70 kW) electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.
