Ferrari 458 Italia Successor to Feature 3.8-liter Twin-Turbo V8?

According to the latest suggestions, the upcoming Ferrari 458 Italia successor, recently spied testing for the very first time, will utilise a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine sourced from within the family.
As it stands, this engine is currently used in the range-topping Maserati Quattroporte and has since been fitted to the brand new Ferrari California T. When fitted in the Quattroporte, this engine delivers around 530 hp. As for the California T, it produces 552 hp at 7,500 rpm and an even more impressive 755 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm. The powertrain has already proven itself to be a real winner and could be thoroughly upgraded for the 458 Italia successor.
It is being suggested that this powerplant could be tuned to upwards of 650 hp, right on money with the new McLaren 650S, thus making for an engine delivering about 170 hp per liter. With a redline over 8,000 rpm very likely, a twin-turbocharged Ferrari supercar definitely has the makings of something very impressive.
Underpinning the Ferrari 458 Italia successor is believed to be the same chassis as the current car. Interestingly, the 458 Italia utilises a lightweight aluminium chassis compared to the carbon fiber monocoque utilised by the 650S and the carbon fiber and aluminium tub used by the Lamborghini Huracan.
