McLaren CEO reveals some new details about the entry-level P13

Could be introduced sometime next year

McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt has revealed some new details about the company's entry-levelP13.
Speaking to Piston Heads, Flewitt said the upcoming model will cost approximately £120,000 ($200,820 / €144,505) and will essentially be a less high-tech version of the 650S. While he declined to go into specifics, the car's front fascia, suspension and carbon fiber monocoque are expected to be similar to the 650S. However, Flewitt noted "It's more usable, it's more affordable, it's still an actual sports car."
While the last few McLarens have been relatively expensive, Flewitt said the company really competes with Porsche more than Ferrari and Lamborghini. As he explained, "Porsche is the brand we have the most conquests from. People who know and understand Porsche can relate to what we do in terms of technology."
As a result, McLaren bought a 911 GT3 for testing an evaluation purposes. Refreshingly, Flewitt eschewed the usual trash talk and said "The GT3 is one of the most impressive new cars I've driven. I was genuinely astonished at how accomplished that car is."
