Mercedes-Benz SL 400 announced with 333 PS, priced from 97,282 EUR

27 PS more powerful than predecessor

Following last week’s rumor, Mercedes-Benz has officially introduced the SL 400 as a replacement for the SL 350.
Mercedes-Benz has taken the V6 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine from the E 400 and put it inside the SL 400 which effectively replaces the SL 350. The motor develops 333 PS (245 kW) between 5,250 rpm and 6,000 rpm and has a maximum torque of 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) available in the 1,600 to 4,000 rpm range.
The SL 400 is 27 PS (20 kW) and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) more powerful than its predecessor and is capable of returning 32.2 mpg US (38.6 mpg UK or 7.3 liters / 100 km) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 172 g/km.
The Euro 6-compliant engine is coupled to a seven-speed automatic transmission and enables the aluminum-made roadster to perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 5.2 seconds and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
At home in Germany the Mercedes-Benz SL 400 has a starting price of 97,282.50 EUR (including 19 percent VAT).
