As always at Geneva, there was no shortage of modified madness, with Nimrod Performance and FAB Design, two aftermarket firms worthy of the most outrageous styling kit award (if such an award existed). But this is a list focused on body kits and custom interiors that left positive impressions, not ones that made us want to hurl up our Porsche catered brunch. So without further ado, here are the top 5 tuners of Geneva 2014 in no particular order. Pick your favorite in the poll below.
Mansory launched the Bugatti VeyronVivere in Geneva as a follow up to its Vincero that was revealed three years earlier. The updated model gets a host of new carbon-fiber parts including a new front fascia with freshly-designed wings, a shorter hood and redesigned apron. V-shaped LED DRLs, aero-optimized side skirts and bigger air outlets are other distinguishing features as are the unique rear diffuser and two air intakes at the back. Five double-spoke alloys round off the new look, while the cabin receives a leather-wrapped steering wheel, carbon-fiber trim and LED ambient lighting in the doors.
Carlsson spent thousands of man hours creating the CS50 Versailles that comes dripping in 24-carat gold inside and out. Based on a Mercedes S-Class, the exterior is coated with 1,000 sheets of wafer-thin gold leaf and also boasts a body kit with front lip and trunk lid spoilers. Inside, around $16,000 worth of gold has been used in decorating the cabin, with the steering wheel, cup holders and infotainment controls being the main beneficiaries of the precious metal. Carlsson is building just 25 units ranging from $268,000 for the CS40 to $545,340 for the 690-hp twin-turbo V12-powered CS65 Versailles.
With a 6.0-liter V12 pumping out 800 hp and 811 lb-ft of electronically limited torque, a wide body kit forged in the depths of hell, and a full leather interior decked out in Apple goodies, a flip-down monitor, refrigerator and banging sound system, the Brabus 800 iBusiness is about as modified as a car can get. The monstrous SUV can sprint from 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds and hit a top speed limited to 155 mph. Exterior highlights include Widestar fender flares housing 23-inch alloys, plenty of LEDs and carbon-fiber trim, while inside the cabin boasts an assortment of Apple products, a 15.6-inch LCD monitor that flips down from the roof, and a red-lit premium audio system sitting menacingly in the trunk.
Binz has been stretching Mercs for around 75 years, but has now entered the world of aftermarket sports cars with its new ‘Sport’ line. On display in Geneva was an awesome E Wagon, and a stunning SLS AMG Roadster wearing what is effectively the carbon-fiber body kit from the SLS Black Series with bigger bumpers, side skirts and restyled diffuser. It also comes with a massive set of BBS alloys. Dubbed the Borrasca (Spanish for storm), Binz has done a fine job on the SLS AMG Roadster and we’ll be keeping an eye out for more of its creations in the future.
The aim of Hamann’s Lamborghini Aventador upgrade is to create “uniqueness in every way.” That’s a serious challenge and one the German tuner tackled by giving the range-topping Raging Bull a two-tone body kit coated in Stealth Grey matte paint and PoisonGreen trim. Carbon-fiber parts range from the two-piece front spoiler and side skirts to the rear diffuser and spoiler. A choice of two exhausts are offered with the Aventador Limited as is a set of forged alloys staggered 20/21 inches front/rear. Inside, green and black leather with green stitching adorns the cabin, while an ECU remap boosts output to 760 hp and 542 lb-ft of torque.
