Last month we pondered whether a new Alpine would ever see the light of day, and according to Australian publication, Motoring, the project is back on track for a 2016 release.Renault’s senior vice president of corporate design said of the new sports car: "The Alpine design is as good as finished. I can't wait for 2016.” In partnership with Caterham, Renault will resurrect the Alpine badge on a lightweight, affordable exotic sports car produced in low volumes.
A tight lid is being kept on potential engine and transmission combinations, but expect it to have in the region of 250 to 300 horsepower with the stylish mid-engined two-seater to weigh in at under 2,500 pounds. With the design virtually finished, don’t be surprised to see a concept debut at the Paris Motor Show this October.
