Are You the Ferrari 458 Successor?

Look closely enough and you'll see this isn't an ordinary 458.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly five years since Ferrari unveiled the 458. Really, it debuted in 2009. And now that the entire lineup has been replaced since, it’s already time for Ferrari to get serious about an eventual 458 replacement. The recent launch of the even higher performance 458 Speciale was the first indicator that a successor isn’t too far off. But today our spy photographers have sent us what appear to be the first shots of that new model.

At first it may look like a typical 458, but a closer look will reveal that the front wheel arches are cut open, thus indicating this is really a test mule. If this really is the 458 successor, it’s only in the early phases of on-road testing. It’ll be at least another 12-15 months until full body prototypes are on the road.
