Cars these days are being equipped with all sorts of hi-tech features. Only a few years ago did things like back-up cameras seem quite advanced. Today they’re quickly becoming standard fare. BMW has always been an automaker at the forefront of new technologies, in both vehicle dynamics as well as electronic features. So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that BMW is pushing the technology envelope even further by introducing night vision. Seriously. Night vision.
As if high-powered headlights weren’t good enough to see the road in the dark. Nevertheless, Motor Trend’s Justin Bell gets behind the wheel of the X5, equipped with night vision, for a drive through nighttime Los Angeles. There’s just one thing: his windshield has been blacked-out, therefore he must rely entirely on the night vision screen to avoid crashing.
