Apple eyeing a Tesla takeover?

Apples and Oranges

According to a recent report, Apple's head of mergers and acquisitions had a meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Details are limited but the San Francisco Chronicle says Adrian Perica and Elon Musk had a meeting at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino last spring. Little is known about the meeting but it's rumored that Apple CEO Tim Cook could have been in attendance and discussed a possible sale or partnership with Tesla. That's not much to go on but the timing coincides with rumors that Apple was considering purchasing the automaker.
There's no word from Tesla's camp but Musk has previously said that if Tesla was ever acquired, it would likely be bought by someone outside the auto industry as the suitor would need billions of dollars in cash. Apple, obviously, fits this criteria.
