Audi S3 Cabriolet revealed ahead of Geneva Motor Show arrival

Priced from 48,500 EUR in Germany

Audi has applied the S treatment on the A3 Cabriolet just in time for the 84th Geneva Motor Show which kicks off in a couple of weeks.
Joining the three-door S3 and five-door S3 Sportback, the S3 Cabriolet adopts the same 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine outputting 300 HP (221 kW) and a maximum torque of 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). Power is delivered to the quattro all-wheel drive system through a six-speed S tronic gearbox which enables the hot cabrio to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in 5.4 seconds on its way to an electronically-capped top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
In terms of fuel consumption, the Audi S3 Cabriolet returns 33.13 mpg US (39.7 mpg UK or 7.1 liters / 100 km) with the S tronic transmission and has CO2 emissions of 165 g/km.
The 1,620 kg (3,571 lbs) convertible sits 25mm lower and can be distinguished from the outside by the deeper bumpers, aluminum-like mirror housings, a chromed windscreen surround while the soft top can be had in three different colors and is opened or closed in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h). Audi says the S3 Cabriolet has a 285-liter cargo capacity with the top up and if you fold it down the luggage compartment drops to 245 liters.
It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in 225/40 R18 tires and can be optionally configured with 19-inch rims while the exterior can wear one of the 12 colors available. At the front axle there are 340mm brake discs with black calipers that at an additional cost can receive a red finish. On the inside there’s a mix of Pearl Nappa leather and fabric, but the customer can also select from various types of Alcantara, Pearl Nappa leather or Fine Nappa leather with contrasting stitching. Other goodies include S sport seats with built-in head restraints and shoulder panels with diamond stitching.
Slated to hit dealerships this summer, the 2014 Audi S3 Cabriolet has a starting price in Germany of 48,500 EUR.
