quattro comes standard
Following two teaser clips and some leaked photos, Audi has fully revealed the 2014 S1 and S1 Sportback which will receive their proper unveiling in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
Available in both three- and five-door versions, the range-topping A1s come with a slightly more aggressive body highlighted by beefier bumpers and side sills, along with a rear wing and a quad exhaust.
Matching the bold appearance is a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TFSI engine delivering 231 HP (170 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) to the quattro all-wheel drive system which enables both models to reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The S1 will need 5.8 seconds to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run while the S1 Sportback will be 0.1s slower due to the slightly increased weight coming from the rear doors.
The vehicles ride on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in 215/40 R17 tires but can be optionally configured with larger 18-inch rims shod in 225/35 R18 rubbers. Other features include xenon plus headlights combined with LED taillights, 310mm front disc brakes with red calipers featuring the S1 logo, as well as optional exterior and interior quattro styling packages to enhance the look.
Inside the cabin Audi has opted for a black theme combined with dark gray scales for the instruments, brushed stainless steel pedals along with standard sport seats or optional S sport seats featuring built-in head restraints.
The 2014 Audi S1 and S1 Sportback are slated to go on sale in the second half of the year and in Germany will carry a starting price of 29,950 EUR and 30,800 EUR, respectively.
