Nom, Nom, Nom
A massive sinkhole has opened up underneath the Skydome at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Unfortunately, the sinkhole - which measures an estimated 40 feet across and 25-30 feet deep - damaged or destroyed eight Corvettes including:
- 1962 Black Corvette
- 1984 PPG Pace Car
- 1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette
- 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette
- 1993 ZR-1 Spyder
- 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette
- 2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette
- 2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil”
None of the cars were on loan from individuals but the ZR-1 Spyder and ZR1 “Blue Devil” were owned by General Motors.
The museum will be closed for the day as a structural engineer is on-site to assess the "existing damage and stability of the surrounding areas." Regardless, the museum says "We’ve got a lot to be excited about in 2014" and they "look forward to getting the Skydome repaired and reopened very soon."
