Volkswagen e-Golf goes on sale in Germany, starts at 34,900 EUR

Comes with an 8-year / 160,000 km warranty on the battery

Volkswagen has announced the electric version of the Golf VII is now effectively on sale in Germany, with prices starting at 34,900 EUR.
Described by Volkswagen as "the most successful European car of all time", the Golf can now be had in an all-electric variant with four doors and a 115 HP (85 kW) motor that provides an instant torque of 270 Nm (199 lb-ft). The vehicle will do 0-37 mph (0-60 km/h) in 4.2 seconds and will need 10.4 seconds to get from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h).
Depending on the driving style, route and traffic conditions, the 2014 Volkswagen e-Golf has an estimated range between 81 miles (130 km) and 118 miles (190 km). It is offered with an eight-year / 160,000 km guarantee for the 24.2 kWh battery and according to VW running costs of the e-Golf stand at just 3.28 EUR per 100 km.
It comes as standard with a wide array of equipment such as a heated windscreen, Discover Pro radio & navigation system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, aero-optimized alloys, full LED headlights and unique C-shaped LED daytime running lights. The e-Golf is also fitted with automatic climate control as well low-rolling resistance tires.
