Volkswagen introduces an updated Taigun concept at Auto Expo in India

With 110 HP 1.0-liter TSI engine

Volkswagen has unveiled today in New Delhi at Auto Expo a lightly updated version of the Taigun compact crossover concept.
In 2012 at the Sao Paulo Motor Show we saw Volkswagen's Taigun baby crossover and now the concept has been revised with a different rear fascia featuring an outside-mounted spare wheel. The vehicle has an overall length of 3859mm with the rear spare wheel installed and is 1728mm wide and 1570mm tall (1605mm with roof rails).
Due to its rather short overhangs Volkswagen has managed to create a generous 2470mm wheelbase which can easily host five people and 280 liters worth of cargo in the trunk. Fold down the rear seats and the capacity jumps to 996 liters helped by the double cargo floor while the load width of the tailgate measures 900mm.
The Taigun concept comes with a small three-cylinder, 1.0-liter TSI engine delivering 110 HP (81 kW) at 5,000 rpm and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) from 1,500 rpm. It will do 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph (186 km/h). Tipping the scales at just 998 kg (2,200 lbs), the Taigun manages to return 50 mpg US (60.1 mpg UK or 4.7 liters / 100 km) and has a range of about 621 miles (1,000 km) thanks to a 50 liter tank.
Volkswagen says a production version of the Taigun concept will be launched and will take into consideration the feedback received these days at 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi, India.
