A follow-up to the 2002 Astra OPC X-treme Concept
Opel has announced plans to showcase the Astra OPC EXTREME concept at the 84th edition of the Geneva Motor Show scheduled for early March.
The new concept represents a follow-up to the Astra OPC X-Treme (see attached pics) from 2002 and is being described as a "true super sports car" that will receive a limited-run production version. It will be the quickest road-legal Astra ever and will be based on theAstra OPC Cup racecar.
Thanks to the implementation of carbon components, the concept and its production derivative will be lighter than the regular 1,373 kg (3,027 lbs) Astra OPC which came out in 2012 with 280 HP (206 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) coming from a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Expect the horsepower figure to go beyond the 300 HP (220 kW) mark and the added oomph will be matched by a more aggressive body kit, a quad exhaust and a big fixed rear wing.
More details will be revealed during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show which will kick off at the beginning of March.
