First production 2015 gets $300,000 at Barret-Jackson auction- buyer will choose transmission and color combinations
The all-new 2015 Mustang has been getting lots of attention recently, especially following the unveiling of the GT and convertible at the Detroit Auto Show last week. But one Mustang enthusiast must have been really impressed- enough to pay 10 times more than the production model will cost at dealerships, just to be the first to drive off in this 5.0-liter 420 horsepower V8 beauty.
With all proceeds of the Barret-Jackson auction going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, this impulsive shopping does come with a good cause (and maybe a nice tax deduction). The lucky auction winner will also be given the chance to choose between a fastback with a manual or automatic transmission, and also select exterior, interior and stripe color combinations. Other noteworthy sales at this year's Barret-Jackson included $1.4M for Schumacher's 1998 Ferrari F300 and $1.65M for a 1963 Shelby Cooper Monaco King Cobra.
