Initial range will consist of four models
BYD has announced Chinese cars will enter the United States market by the end of 2015.
Stella Li is BYD's senior vice president for U.S and she disclosed plans to enter the market in United States by the end of next year with an initial range which will comprise about four models. BYD originally wanted to make this move back in 2010 but considered it wasn't ready so now they are preparing for a late 2015 launch.
It should be noted BYD is already effectively in the U.S. vehicle market since they are selling electric buses to fleet operators. In March they will commence production of electric buses at a factory located in Lancaster, CA.
Geely is another Chinese automaker with ambitions of selling cars in the United States and their plans are to introduce models co-developed with Volvo - which they own - sometime in 2016.
