Ford Planning an Extreme Fiesta RS ?

Please make this one come true (and bring it to the US, of course).
In case you didn’t already know, the Fiesta ST is one of the best new models in Ford’s lineup. For just around $23k, you can get yourself a pocket rocket that’s a blast to drive and has scored stellar reviews from major publications globally. It may just be the perfect package of everyday utility and affordable driving fun. Or so we thought. There’s now a rumor going around claiming that due to the Fiesta ST’s phenomenal success, Ford is highly considering a more extreme RS variant.

As Ford does the numbers for the business case, engineers are looking to pump up the 1.6-liter turbo four’s output from 179 horsepower to nearly 230 ponies. The Fiesta lineup is currently about to receive a facelift, indicating its midway through its life cycle. Still, the Fiesta remains a huge seller and adding an extreme RS variant would really prove just how much power Ford can achieve with such a small engine. If the green light is given, it’s entirely possible to see the Fiesta RS arrive sometime in 2015. Will it arrive stateside? We can only hope.
